Digital editing and looking forward!

Hello Everyone!

Wanted to give you guys a quick update on the book and some things surrounding it: Progress is being made, Dahlia has been sending over panels and pages and all the while is insisting that she's on target for an October completion deadline.

There's still a little painting left to be done, but most of what's left is digital editing/compositing/coloring, which is difficult on Dahlia's hand, but something she's been batching out and working on every day.

In other news from the Unconquered Universe, we've been working on a new series starring the Bride with Mao Mora (of Damsel from DISTRESS and The Game fame) and we're hoping to get to debut the series by the end of this year!

Cover by Eileen Widjaja

Don't worry, we're not thinking about launching until after we've got digital copies of Evelyn the Unconquered in your hands, but it is something we're really excited about and think you'll absolutely love!

Where Evelyn the Unconquered covers a LONG period of time in the Bride's life, the new series dives into her time as a Cold War era spy, playing with spy thriller genre conventions in the same way that Frankenstein the Unconquered plays with sword and sorcery style fantasy.

Hope you've all enjoyed this (frankly unbearably hot) summer and I can't wait to get Evelyn in your hands!

July Update!
2 months ago – Mon, Jul 06, 2026 at 12:45:07 PM

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to give you guys a quick update regarding where we're at in production!

Dahlia sent me the layouts for the full book as well as several in-progress pages and has found a rhythm that she's comfortable with that is safe for her hands. If you haven't been reading these updates closely, she had an injury in her hands that's been delaying us and we've been working to find a way for her to work on the book without making anything worse (stress injuries, it turns out, are rarely solved by continuing to stress the affected area).

Everything I've seen so far is really evocative and I'm excited about how the pages are coming. I'm going to refrain from showing the layouts just because they're painted, a bit messy, and flatly not meant to fully represent the finished comic, just the panel layouts and overall shape of everything.

Right now, she's estimating being finished with everything sometime in October. I'll keep you updated as we continue toward that date, but with that in mind, we should be able to get you digital and possibly physical copies of the book before the end of the year!

I appreciate you guys sticking through everything and being patient as we work on the book. We've got exciting things coming in the Frank Cinematic Universe (as no one is calling it) and we appreciate all the support!

June update
3 months ago – Thu, Jun 11, 2026 at 07:40:30 AM

Hello Everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well! We're continuing work on Evelyn the Unconquered while Dahlia is working through her physical therapy--from her own report, "I finally got to do the exams I’d been waiting on for both forearms, wrists, and hands, and they were able to pinpoint where the inflammation is in both hands. Now I can move forward with a more targeted treatment. I’ll be using the right brace and adjusting how I hold tools, so I’m hopeful this will help things improve more steadily from here."

She's been working traditionally with digital editing and the book is coming together, slowly but surely. I'll let you know when we have a more definitive timeline, but in the meantime, here's a couple of panels she's been making as paintings:

Sorry I don't have more to say at the moment, an artist healing from a hand injury is no joke and I'm simply not going to rush that process as it's more likely to get worse if I do.

We are currently running a campaign for Descent into Dread, our black and white horror anthology which includes the original Frankenstein the Unconquered short stories. That book is already practically complete, so if you need something to tide you over until Evelyn is ready, I'd recommend checking out that book here!

Production Update/Delay
5 months ago – Thu, Apr 30, 2026 at 08:06:42 AM

Hello Everyone!

Got a report from Dahlia that her Physical Therapy is going well, but the extent of the damage was larger than they thought and it will probably take longer than originally expected to recover safely. She is continuing work on the comic in ways that don't cause her pain, mainly painting on an easel using guache and editing in photoshop, but that process is slower than working digitally.

She's requested a three month extension of the deadline, which of course we are granting, and I wanted to let you know that that's where we are. I apologize for the inconvenience, but we value the health and safety of our collaborators over making sure everything is produced with machine-like efficiency.

Obligatory Self Promo

We're in the middle of a campaign for Love is Simple, our take on Greek Mythology from the Ringo Winning team that made Smut. At time of writing we're 93% funded and really looking forward to breaking out some stretch goals and free goodies for our backers. We'd love to have you on board!

Quick April Update!
5 months ago – Wed, Apr 08, 2026 at 09:57:38 AM

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to pop in to give you guys a small update! As I said last update, the process Dahlia is using doesn't have much of an in-between phase between in progress and finished pages, so there's not a lot to show off at the moment.

We did also hit a small snag in that Dahlia had to take a few weeks off to recover from a stress injury in her wrists (don't ever let someone tell you being an artist isn't real work!), but according to her, we're still fully on schedule for lettering in June/July.

I wish I had more pages to show you, but we should have more to show off relatively soon. Thanks everyone for your patience, we're working on some really exciting stuff for Evelyn post this comic's release, so don't think that we've taken our eye off the ball for a moment!
