First Stretch Goal UNLOCKED!
5 months ago – Wed, Oct 29, 2025 at 11:30:04 AM

Hello Everyone!

Would you look at that, only a day later we've hit stretch goal #1! I guess we'll need to get writing that short story for the comic!

You can pick up the "Anguish" print by Dahlia Maha right now through your add-ons and help move us a little closer to our next stretch goal where we'll unlock a new variant cover AND all backers will get a digital copy of "Rubbing Elbows", a free digital short comic drawn by Kath Lobo (Good Game, Well Played; Unlimited: Power Rangers) about the worst entry level job of all time!

Big thanks to everyone who got us here in no time at all, let's keep it up!

Projects We Support!

Alpha Cat #1

"After being a soldier in the devastating Insect Wars, Alpha and his crew are exploring the galaxy. They come across a distress call and an ancient robot temple which hides a powerful secret. Scoundrels are captured and artifacts are recovered, but events have now been set in motion that raise troubling questions. Is the Insect Imperium gathering strength again? Why did most of the robots retreat to Robot Moon after the war? What is the true purpose of the hidden robot temples? And why are they suddenly being attacked by space pirates? Alpha must solve these challenging mysteries, and fast, to save the Animal Alliance.

"I have always loved Star Trek and the kinetic, over-the-top fun of video games like Ratchet and Clank, so Fernando and I talked about the feel of the book, the characters, and the story we wanted to tell, and we both realized we wanted science fiction, action, adventure, and fun, hopeful vibes all mixed together in a comic book blender. The result was Alpha Cat. We hope you enjoy it!"

A bit of a different vibe from what we've got going here, but here's the thing: Fernando Pinto rules and I will always hype up his art and whatever projects he's got going at the moment! Mancini is a great writer that knows how to bring out the best of Nando's style and I have no doubt that this hyper animated space animal beast of a comic is going to crush it just as much as their previous work on Long Ago and Far Away! Check it out here!

Darkade: An Arcade Horror Comic

"For over 20 years, avid gamer Sam has hidden her estranged father’s legacy as owner of Benningworths. An abandoned arcade located on Plank Pier, Coney Island.  A place haunted by countless allegations of child abduction and crime back in the 90’s.. Sam’s father himself now missing, long presumed dead. The place now just a condemned waste ground.

"With Sam’s own funds dwindling and desperate for money – Sam makes the decision to return to Plank Pier in the hope of recovering a collection of her father’s own rare motherboards to sell online. In doing so, Sam will discover something far darker lurks in the shadows of the abandoned pier."

Darkade has a vintage style in every sense of the word and, as a lover of strange horror fiction, I can't wait for it! The colors on this book especially are beautiful and compliment the scratchy line art incredibly well--it reminds me of Caspar Wijngaard's work on Home Sick Pilots or All Against All (which, if you've read those books, is high praise!). Check it out here!

Talk soon guys!

Stretch Goal Roadmap!
5 months ago – Tue, Oct 28, 2025 at 10:09:18 AM

Hello Everyone!

It's been about a week since we hit our initial funding goal and we got a fair amount of responses on our poll for Dahlia's artwork, so we're ready to unveil our Stretch Goal Roadmap!

  • $6,000 - A short prose story will be included with Evelyn the Unconquered! Dahlia Maha's piece "Anguish" will be made available as a print in the add-ons section!
  • $7,500 - All backers will receive a digital copy of "Rubbing Elbows", a short comic by Wells Thompson, Dalton Shannon, and Kath Lobo! Dahlia Maha's piece "Anguish" will be made available as a variant cover!
  • $10,000 - All physical backers will receive an Evelyn the Unconquered trading card! Flops's "Unchained" artwork will be made available as an 11"x-17" poster!
  • $15,000 - All physical backers will receive a new Evelyn the Unconquered sticker! An enamel pin of the same design will be made available as an add-on!
  • $20,000 - TBD when and if we get closer to achieving this!

We think we can reasonably unlock quite a few of these and would love to have to figure out what happens at $20k! Only way to find out is to keep spreading the word and making this book bigger and bigger. We're only $400 away from hitting that first stretch goal and I absolutely intend to make that happen!

Projects We Support!

Evermind #1-6

"Brilliant scientist Lucas Zhang has invented the world-changing technology to transfer human consciousness into advanced machines. But to fund it, he entered into a partnership with corrupt theme park magnate Armand Germain that puts him at odds with his conscience – and his estranged activist daughter.

"When his daughter falls victim to ruthless paramilitary corporations vying for control of the Neurolink technology, a snap decision to save her life leads to transferring consciousness into a fembot. Lucas will stop at nothing to save civilization from the very technology he unleashed, and to redeem himself in her eyes—Even when it means transferring his own consciousness into one of Bobo World's mecha gorillas..."

Evermind is an amalgamation of everything that makes comics special. A plot that can only be described as "banana sandwich insane" brought to life by one of the most talented artists of a generation with expressive, exciting action set pieces and fun, loveable characters. Also, there's a gorilla on the cover (if you know, you know). It's great, it's explosive, it's well worth your attention! Check it out here!

Spryte #1

"Spryte #1 is a 28 page, black and white, fantasy action/adventure comic crafted with a Pixar sensibility, while balancing a slow-burn emotional journey with plenty of big action set pieces.

"Deep underground, villages and towns are ruled by sinister creatures, our story begins when Spryte slays Grail, the "protector" of Sundree. Was this a mistake? It doesn't feel like one.

"Spryte wants a place to call home, which is difficult for them when no one else looks like they do. What good is the ability to harness light when everyone is fine with the dark?"

Spryte is a wildly creative and wonderfully stylistic fantasy comic that I'm really excited about! It manages to invoke the simple character design and clean sensibilities of Hollow Knight with the rough environmental aesthetics of Berserk, and that's just cool! Check it out, you'll see what I mean!

We're Funded! New Stretch Goal Poll!
5 months ago – Thu, Oct 23, 2025 at 09:05:44 AM

Hello Everyone!

At a very aesthetic 200 backers, we just hit our funding goal for the campaign! Woo!

Thank you everyone for making this book happen! We've got 20 days left to get more people on board and meet some stretch goals, so we're going to be shouting from the rooftops to get you guys as much cool stuff as we can. Speaking of...

We're running a backer poll right now to see what you'd like to see out of this gorgeous piece Dahlia made for the campaign. You can vote in that poll here:

https://us19.list-manage.com/survey?u=52082ca7589be48dc71874afe&id=a04ebc69df&attribution=false

We'll be announcing our stretch goal road map soon and the poll will affect how that plays out! I can tell you that the first stretch goal will be at $6000, so if something crazy happens and we hit it before our next update you can be sure we aren't moving the goalposts!

Thank you all again, I'm really looking forward to seeing this story in print!

Come to Me

"Steph wants to make a sex tape. Jon has his doubts. But when they press record, an evening of passion gives way to terror—and their night of intimacy becomes a fight for their very souls against a jealous demonic spirit.

"This book is a genre hybrid of found footage horror and amateur sex tapes that features an emotional story about love, fears of intimacy and dealing with the loss of a loved one. This comic is for fans of the found footage genre, including Grave Encounters, Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project, and Hell House LLC. Oh, and fans of porn too!"

I love when people dare to do something interesting in a popular genre! With a stellar team and really interesting hook, this is one of those projects I can't help but be personally really excited by. Matt McGrath is an excellent storyteller and the prospect of a found footage erotic thriller is so obvious, I'm mad I didn't think of it first! This book is nearly funded and deserves to see a big release, so check it out here!

Boston Metaphysical Society: Mystery at Pikes Peak

"Issues three and four continue the story where the team (Samuel, Caitlin, Granville, and Alma), fearing arrest, flee Boston to arrive at the only safe haven they have--Tesla's Experimental Station in Colorado Springs. There they meet Tesla’s most unlikely partner, Meihui Zhou, a scientist from the Great House Zhou in California. Life gets more complicated when an attempt is made on Tesla’s life and Caitlin’s psychic abilities take a dangerous turn. Now, they must figure out who is trying to kill Tesla and what Caitlin’s visions are trying to tell her before anyone else dies.

"If you are new to the series, the original six issue mini-series  (Volume 1) is about an ex-Pinkerton detective, a spirit photographer, and a genius scientist who battle supernatural forces in late 1800’s  Boston. They live in an alternate steampunk history where ghosts and  demons are a normal part of life. Families known as the Great Houses control the economy of the Great States of America while the middle class and lower classes sole purpose are to serve the Great Houses.

"Boston Metaphysical Society has been an ongoing series on Kickstarter for over a decade, which means we have lots of stories you can dive into if you are new to the series."

This is the latest part of what is now an institution on Kickstarter and it looks every bit as exciting as what came before! Part of this series was drawn by Frankenstein the Unconquered artist Elisabeth Mkhedzie, so you know the art is next level already. Really, what's impressive is how Madeleine Holly-Rosing continues to create inventive, refreshing stories in this universe that now spans over a decade! Whether you're an old fan or never heard of it, you should definitely check it out here!

We'll talk soon with our stretch goal road map, until then!

We Won a RINGO Award!
5 months ago – Mon, Oct 20, 2025 at 11:14:57 AM

Hello Everyone!

I just got back from Baltimore where, unbelievably, we won the 2025 Ringo Award for Best Humor Comic!

It's something we never expected and are extremely grateful for! A continuing reminder that we owe it all to our Kickstarter backers and loyal fans (like you!).

All that aside, we are now continuing our crusade to get this book funded and out into the world! At 93% funded, we are agonizingly close to our goal and just need a little more of a push to get us there!

Keep telling your friends and neighborhood small children about the campaign, I promise it makes a difference. And if you want to check out our Ringo Winning book, picking it up as an add-on will also help us get there!

Paterfamilias

"Adam and his daughter Gloria thought they were going to have a great time together touring Chicago, a great opportunity for a Daddy's Girl to be with the man who is admittedly wrapped around her finger. However, a freak encounter with the supernatural leaves Adam helpless, powerless, to prevent the abduction of Gloria. How can he handle the terror of the event, how can he process the trauma, and can Gloria find the resolve to stay alive?

"PATERFAMILIAS follows Adam in his quest for the power to save his daughter through any means necessary, no matter who he has to hurt to acquire that power. This is a story that is part TAKEN and part DR STRANGE as Adam must acquire magical knowledge and skill in order to strike back at the demonic entities responsible for the kidnapping of his daughter and others."

I was the 2nd backer on this campaign, I've been waiting for it for years and I was so excited to see it finally launch! Grant Stoye is an incredibly thoughtful writer and his projects are some of my favorite that have ever been on Kickstarter. PLEASE take some time to check it out here!

Death and the Maiden #1-2

"When Stralice comes of age, she is sent to complete the Flourishing. She knows little of what is going to happen other than she must go to the Chimerian Wood. She only knows that she is not ready for this task. She makes the journey, carrying the two items she needs for her quest, an egg, and her heart. But what awaits her in the Chimerian Wood is not something that she is prepared for, and it pulls her on a journey she never thought possible.

"This story is a dark fantasy from the minds of Jasmine Becket-Griffith and David Van Gough, with some amazing artistry and an equally amazing story."

This book is an unexpected gym on Kickstarter at the moment--momentous, yet unassuming and incredibly expressive! I love the creative team and Dren Productions as a publisher has always been reliable when it comes to making high quality stuff. I dig it, check it out here!

One Week Update from Baltimore CC!
5 months ago – Sat, Oct 18, 2025 at 06:26:36 AM

Hello Everyone!

I am bouncing around Baltimore Comic Con and trying to keep a close eye on the project as I sell books and meet my heroes like Dani and Becky Cloonan. The good news is, we're 89% of the way to our goal! Nearly there! Hell yeah!

We are starting the slow down period as we exit the first week of the campaign, which is totally normal for a Kickstarter. We're still going to be out there everyday waving our arms to get attention on the comic and bring us to and beyond our goal. If you're looking to help us do that, there's actually a number of things you can do to give the campaign a nudge:

  • Leave a comment on the campaign saying what you're excited about, that you're a Frankenstein the Unconquered fan, or what drew you to the project. It sounds dumb, but that kind of activity is something Kickstarter looks for to promote the campaign internally.
  • Share the campaign on your preferred social media--we aren't everywhere and hearing that a campaign is great from a fan hits different than seeing the creator promote it for the billionth time.
  • Talk to a friend about the campaign the next time you hang out in person. I know that being around people is scary, but we believe in you!
  • Stand on your roof and shout "The Bride has come to rend and tear our world asunder!" And when the police show up, tell them about the campaign.

We'll be in touch soon as we hopefully hit our funding goal, until then, let's keep shouting into the void!

Old Devils #1-2

"Occult reality show has-beens Jade and Shaw have puzzled together a centuries-long pattern of young women dying during childbirth. The common thread: A charismatic out-of-towner who disappears when they die.

"Now, the paranormal investigators have a chance to stop the killings, and redeem themselves for their decades-old public failings, in the cities and towns that dot the northernmost Great Plains.

"OLD DEVILS is a limited horror series in the tradition of Something Is Killing the Children, 30 Days of Night, and Marvel's Nightstalkers. This Kickstarter will fund issue #2, a 24 page comic by Matthew Wilding (Free Hands, Nightmare Man) and Jeremiah Schiek (Hush Ronin, One True Love)."

Wilding and Schiek have constructed a really compelling supernatural thriller that I, personally, can't wait to see more of. It's fully funded and on its 99th backer and I think it'd be really cool if we gave them backer 100! Check it out here.

Ruination #1-11

"RUINATION is a fantasy adventure comic book series that follows a group of young soldiers as they forge their own path in a world hellbent on destroying itself... again.

"The nation of Saldyria was nearly destroyed during its centuries-long war with the mysterious rebels called the Fallen. After a truce was declared, the Saldyrians began rebuilding and gave birth to the first post-war children. All was peaceful until a group of Fallen viciously attacked a fishing village in search of a powerful crystal held by one of its residents.

"Now, two Saldyrian soldiers (Dante and Jalen) are fighting to save their loved ones with surprising aid from a Fallen assassin (Keila) looking to end the violence. Pursued by Fallen soldiers, the group escaped through a strange portal in the woods. While they have bought themselves some time, the world on the other side of the portal may not be safer than their own..."

Ruination is a veritable Kickstarter institution at this point and it remains imaginative, compelling, and beautiful with some of the best fantasy art on the platform! Frankenstein the Unconquered artist Elisabeth Mkhedzie is part of the team on this series, so we really can't give it more of an endorsement. It's also 99% of the way to it's goal, so again, it would be cool if we bumped them over their funding goal! It's great, check it out here!

Let's crush our funding goal and lay out some stretch goals soon!
